Srinagar, Sep 23 (KNO): As part of its continued efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, J&K Police on Tuesday said to have recovered a significant quantity of contraband from a shop in village Watalpora, Beerwah.
“Police Station Beerwah received specific information regarding the storage of narcotic substances in a shop at Watalpora for illegal sale to the local youth. Acting promptly, a police party from Police Station Beerwah, accompanied by the Executive Magistrate, conducted a raid at the said shop,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
During the search, police said that approximately 04 kilograms of contraband substance (Ganja) was recovered from the possession of Saddam Yousuf, son of Mohammad Yousuf Mir, resident of Watalpora, Beerwah, who was subsequently arrested.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 132/2025, under section 8/20 NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, J&K Police urged the public to extend their cooperation in curbing the menace of drugs and are requested to report any information regarding drug peddling or other criminal activities to the nearest police establishment—(KNO)
